Why Choose Organic

ecoLinen 100% Organic Bed Linen.

Now you can sleep better knowing that your bed linen is made from organic cotton.

Why is it better for me?

ecoLinen organic bed linen is free from the toxic dyes and insecticides used in conventional cotton production.

Our bodies are constantly fighting the toxins found in the products around us. With organic cotton sheets, you help create environments in your home that allow the body’s defence systems a chance to recuperate. Just like organic food, organic cotton is good for you and your family, as well as the environment.

Benefits for your home

Hypoallergenic & safe for your family. Protect your family against the health issues that can be caused by exposure to harmful chemicals. ecoLinen organic cotton sheets are so pure they are safe enough for many with acute allergies and chemical sensitivities.

Durable, long-lasting

Organic fibres grow stronger. When cared for properly, organic cotton linens last longer than conventional products.

A great way to make a positive impact

If you already support organics for the health of our environment, then buying organic cotton sheets is a another great way to make a difference. It takes about 500 grams of pesticides and synthetic fertilizers to grow the cotton needed to make just one sheet.

Certified Organic Guarantee

ecolinen is proud to be the first bed linen company in Australia to be certified organic by SKAL International which means you are guaranteed that this product is 100% organic cotton. Safe for you and your family.

Australia is the driest inhabited continent on Earth. Should we grow cotton in Australia? 65% of our precious water is used in agriculture. ecoLinen organic cotton is grown on Indian organic farms by highly experienced farmers. There are no pesticides or herbicides used on these farms and since India has monsoonal rain, growing cotton crops doesn’t tax the land the way it does in Australia. When left alone, insects and plants in nature keep each other in check by thriving off of one another. Organic farming uses this diversity to its advantage and keeps fields in balance using natural predators against pests. Without chemical treatments, the plants grow stronger and are better able to fend for themselves. As a result organic fibre is stronger than conventional cotton.

Traces of chemicals used to eliminate weeds and unwanted insects in cotton crops can remain in fabrics, even after washing. Our skin is absorbing and releasing chemicals from our environment all day every day. Some chemicals are stored and collected in our bodies, this is called bioaccumulation. Bioaccumulation of chemicals can weaken your immune system. Some affects show in our nervous system, respiratory system, headaches, dizziness and irritations to the eyes, nose and throat along with difficulties with sleep, concentration and memory. To maintain your wellbeing and not place further stress on your body, it is recommended that you sleep in bed linen free of toxic dyes or cotton sprayed with harsh chemicals.

"All natural cotton" isn't necessarily chemical-free. The conventional processing of cotton textiles relies heavily on chemicals, many of which are acutely toxic and classified by authorities as hazardous. Certification for the growing of the ecoLinen cotton, through to the weaving and the processes applied afterwards, is by SKAL (Control Union) in the Netherlands - the top international textile certifier.

Our chosen dyes are approved by both Control Union and Okeo-tex in Germany so we know that no harsh chemicals are used in the making of our products. We use low-impact certified organic dyes and even the whitening is non-harsh hydrogen peroxide rather than chlorine bleach.

This organic, therefore stronger, more durable fabric and the construction of our sheeting allows us to use leading edge manufacturing processes to create luxury designs.

Our designs are kept classic and fullfil the levels of luxury set by international eco-resorts. Our embroidered ranges have been inspired by nature and indiginous timeless patterns.

ecoLinen production in both India and Australia is always sweatshop-free and the environments abide by fairtrade guidelines.

COTTON TIP!
Thread Count is about how many threads there are in a square centimetre of cotton. Textiles are often described in terms of thread count and you may come across counts from 250 to 1000. What's MORE important though than the thread count is the quality of the thread being used and the machinery its been made on and the processes to finish it. To find out the quality of the thread being used, ask your retailer where your sheets have come from and the farming and finishing practises used to make them.

CARING FOR YOUR ORGANIC COTTON FABRIC
Regular, mainstream brands of washing powder can contain petrochemicals or synthetically based chemicals. In order to avoid possible skin conditions or reduce the toxic layering our bodies are already exposed to, consider using laundry powder from a health food store or go online to www.ecostore.co.nz or choose another reputable source.

Our five year guarantee on fabric and workmanship for our bed linen is offered because we believe that we make a very well constructed sheet from high-quality, very well-made fabric. Please take good care of your bed linen and we will be happy to replace or refund should our fabric or workmanship not be of the best quality.
